Getting Lost on Local Search

By Jeff Jobe • August 10th, 2010

Oh, the places you will go…are found on Google Local Search.  Why are you not managing your Google Places Page?  Have you forgot the key strategy in business is location, location, location?

In Seattle, there are 50 keyword search terms that account for over 2 million monthly searches for hotels in Seattle.  TWO MILLION!  Did that get anyone’s attention?  Now with local search, if you don’t appear on “The Map”, you are not going to see the clicks you used to from organic search.

Is it  important to SEO your own website.  Of course it is.  However, you now have to optimize your Google Places Listing.  These are two completely different areas.  I had a GM ask me the other day how much people pay to get on “The Map?”  When I told him $0 to google, but a whole lot more to Google Places Optimizers, he didn’t know what to say.

Did you know that there are over 2.6 Billion 411 calls per year?  Did you know that Google 411 uses the same information on Google Local Search (The Map) for its 411 information?

If you want to learn more about this area of internet marketing and local presence, let me know.
